Udo Gertz Page
Udo had to be one of the best C16 and Plus/4 programmers going. Time and time again we loaded up his games just see what the CBM64 was missing out on. These game's were not only class but took the machine where no one had been before. One game was Summer Events, Sadly I dont have this title any more :( and was the first game I can remember on any 8 bit machine, to go beyond the big borders and fill the whole screen with graphics. The first event was swimming and this was a remarkable achievement and showed us that the C16-Plus4 could keep up with its big brother the CBM64.

I would like to dedicate this page to Udo Gertz and show you just a few of the Real game covers and a brief desrciption of the game and my own view of the game. I'm not sure what happened to Udo after his works. I sort of remember he was moving over to the Amiga and Summer Events was to be his last game. My brother thinks around this time he was called up into the Army as this is a call of duty in his country "Germany", But we're both not sure and this would of stopped Udo's support for theC16-Plus/4 if this were true ?

Tom Thumb
tomthumb Tom Thumb
Tom Thumb.prg
Tom Thumb with out question has to be the greatest 16k platform game ever made on any system ! Udo had the gift to make all his games look as if they were made from sprites. Clean amazing graphic's made Tom Thumb a unique game to the C16/Plus4. The game is stonking in size and to any die hard fan of Tom there is over 2 hours of awesome run and jump action. One of the best features is being able to see other sections of the game you cant reach until some time later. With this in mind you could'nt stop wondering just maybe you could jump off keys or some treasure in reach of the higher levels. Once you get going your soon be fronted with all kinds of Monsters that hinder your path. The Blue Flying Bugs can be the biggest problem as they fly in with out warning and can even catch you out when jumping off springs! With Keys, Treasure, Laser Traps, Spikes, Spiders, Bats and all kinds of Spirits that abound inside the pyramid Tom Thumb has to be the Grand Master of C16/Plus4 gaming history.

Tom for Commodore 64
tom64 TOM 64 came out in 1984 on the Commodore 64, 2 years before Tom Thumb C16. This was a big surprise to me when I found this game. One question I wish I knew was why did Udo start coding on the C16? Below you can find out some more info from what I make of the game:

Kingsoft Presents
ugoaward Kingsoft Presents is one rare relic indeed! Tobias Heger who has preserved this advertisement all these years sent in this cool image. The advertisement came with an old German magazine called "Compute mit - C16 Sonderheft", translation "Compute also - C16 Special Edition" issue 1/87. Not only was this special but also gives you and idea of what Udo ment to Kingsoft! It shows an award Udo was given from the magazine Commodore Computing International for coding Winter Events and at the same time was printed on silver paper! Although the text is in German I have added an HTML english translation.

Winter Demo
Winter Demo
Winter_Demo.prg
Space Pilot released by Anco in 1986 had 2 Demo screens of Udo Gertz forthcoming Winter Events recorded on the tape after the main game. The file name of the demo was "Winter Demo C16". This demo contained 2 image previews of Biathlon and Bobsled. Also printed on the inside cover of Space Pilot was an image of the Ski Jump. I'm just glad to still have the original game and have copyed the Demo over for you to view. The run code is SYS4144. Press any key to change pictures.
