WinEMU v0.49 default setting problem!
Zsolt has just mailed this info concering a keyboard bug you may have running v0.49 in window mode.
When you run the setup for the first time the keyboard setting is on "Normal" by default. This causes the crash. You can find the keyboard option under Options/Keyboard, set the option to "DirecInput" and it will work fine! Many thanks for the info Zsolt! :-)

Artifex News!!
Just to give you an idea of how things are shaping up Zsolt reports all CPU instructions and non-scrolling games work fine! More games are now running than in WinEMU! Zsolt is also pleased with his work so far and may replace this new engine for the one running WinEMU. He is also hoping for BeOS and Linux versions too.

"Zsolt! any chance of a Dreamcast port when your all finished and done?" ;-)

plus4manual
Commodore Basic 3.5 Manual (Word-doc)
The Basic35 doc version has been coneverted by Stefan Geurts from Janne Peräaho manual for use with Microsoft's Word. Originally it can be printed (115 pages) on a HP LaserjetIIIp printer. This is a common standard printer. So check first the page-setup of the word document before printing on other types of printers. Also the "search" option of Word97 is great for hunting down those forgotten commands! Big thanks to Stefan Geurts for covering this manual for printing and sending it in :-)

C16/Plus4 Retro Page Updated!
Ati has uploaded some real gems for you to check out! Also added are 2 more Turbo Loader programs which its very neat to see. This means once we can record Tap images back onto original tape cassettes you could add your own turbo loaders to your files. And a neat idea could be to add your own loading screens just to finish them off :-) This is'nt anything new, but to use the Nova Load Turbo is something else. I cryed for this turbo all those years ago with the likes of Mastertronic making full use of a tool we did'nt have ;-) Head on over to Ati's homepage now!

Just a thought.........
It's great to be able to use Turbo Loaders with software and also cool that you can do all this with YAPE and not needing a C16/Plus4 at all. How ever I do not want to see the net covered with TAP images by means of adding a Turbo to a crack! My idea is to preserve original games in there original format with the use of TAP. Adding a Turbo to a crack and then uploading it as a genuine original TAP image would damage histroy forever!! :-( So lets keep it original to the last. Thankyou.

I love the PLUS4!!!! says Zsolt.
And so do we :-) Zsolt has sent in another grab of his forthcoming Artifex for you all to see! At some point there will be a new home (website) for Artifex and a working version should be released then. Here's a couple of things in Artifex right now:
  • full CPU debugger with micro-code debugger features
  • more breakpoints upto 16
  • TED debugger with modification feature (user can modify any TED register)

www.c16.de Lives On!!!!
Andreas Tallen, Webmaster of c16.de has just mailed to say an new webmaster will take over in Febuary! Talks are under way now to keep this cool German site alive for the future :-) So keep a keen eye open for any news from their homepage.

Saboteur Exposed!
Wow! The biggest map of a Plus4 game is here. It took some 168 edited images (and loads of editing of them) to make. It also took many, many hours of playing the game to make sure all items, terminals, locked doors and bombs were located correctly for each level of skill. I even played the C64 version and found the map to match ours and to some point the ZX Specturm aswell. Well the speccy version started out in the boat and also had grenades thrown in! (snif)

New C16/Plus4 Emulator Finally Revealed!
At the start of the year I gave you a quick snip of info on a new C16/Plus4 emulator that was under way. Today it's time for a sneak look at what could be the most ambitious C16/Plus4 emulator ever! Artifex The C16/Plus4 Emulator will be the next generation WinEMU from Zsolt Prievara. Most of the Plus4 resources should be available under emulation and this time concentrating to bring you the very best! Designed for all gamers, hackers and coders alike Artifex should cover all your C16/Plus4 needs, but for now you're have to dribble over this fully exposed desk top grab of Zsolt's machine :-)

Zsolt told me "I have to work hard on Artifex to make a well-working version before I will release anything, but every day it gets better and better.", and with any luck he may release WinEMU 0.49 this weekend! Big thanks Zsolt for sending in your cool grab and all the best for your up and coming Artifex!

A Surprise Visitor and Surprise Game!

Howlin Mad (MIRAI) author of the classic C16/Plus4 games Auriga, Auto Zone, Bubble Trouble and Varmit was on the look out for his works and happened to land here! After sending me a mail I thought I'd reply and send him something he may not of seen before and maybe you too?
Auto Zone 3 is an edited version of the original classic with loads more hazardous speed jumping fun. So to get you back into the spirit of Howlin's games I thought I'd sneak this one out... Well, Auto Zone is such a cool game and the timing was right for this game to be uploaded ;-)

www.c16.de is to close!
Today I received an email from Andreas Tallen webmaster of the cool German C16/Plus4 games site. As from March 2001 c16.de will be no more (deleted). Andreas became a dad not so long ago and would like to spend more time with his wife and daughter. This is a real pity to hear, but I do understand the amount of time needed to keep on top of an ever growing web site. After all I'm a dad also and suffer from the same problems at times. For now I wish Andreas and his family all the best for the future!

You still have plenty of time to surf over and check out anything you may of missed, but remember it wont be there forever!

Jack Attack 2 Demo Now Available!
A new version of the classic C16/Plus4 game Jack Attack has just been released for the PC.
Jack Attack 2 includes all of the nostalgic levels plus 70 great new levels. JA2 has updated graphics and super sound. And now two players can simultaneously play either cooperatively or competitively. Because JA2 is non-violent, this is a great game for kids (especially the "Just for Kids" set of levels) but definitely more than challenging enough for adults. There are even "special powers" designed to players of differing abilities play together as equals. More info can be found from the link below:

Mercenary 2 is here!
Ati took a fresh look at Mercenary 2.tap and with his own emulator YAPE has come up with a better working PRG version! The known bug at the spiders web was fine and with any luck this should be it! At the same time he has made a new image of Mercenary PRG from the original Tap which has now been updated. Big thanks again Ati and of course Paul Woakes (Author) for presenting us with such class on a Plus4!

Tom Thumb C64 & Vic20 16k!
Yes! You read correct! Tom Thumb also came out for the Vic20 aswell and came on the same cassette with the C64 version. A Mega Big thanks to Luc P. for mailing me and sending in a scan of the cover! I cant sleep now as we cant find the Vic20 version and Luc did'nt have a Vic to load his original version on :-( At this time I dont know if Udo coded the Vic version, but I bet he did :-) If you can help find the Vic20 version please mail me. For now check this cool cover out!
