Rug Rider.d64
A Rare Release From the USA!!!
In the days of old US Gold presented us with what was ment to be the best from the USA and to be honest not much came out over here (snif). I have no idea of what other hidden talent was released in the U.S that did'nt make it here so now's the time to take a looks :-)
Out of the blue Fred Phillips got in contact and said "I have a game called Rug Rider from Tri-Micro, they made the built in software for the Plus/4 and offered a Plus/4 newsletter, games, book, ect for the machine from 85-89 here in the states". WOW! Very intresting indeed.

Rug Rider is a Plus/4 or 64k only game. You play the part as the carpet riding dude collecting keys and magic bombs on your quest to kill some fat guy. Sound simple? Wait till you've had a go. Mastering the carpet is'nt as easy as picking out an area to play on the map :-). To run Rug Rider load and run the file "BOOT" eg.( DLOAD"BOOT" ) and enjoy this cool game from the USA! Also as a bonus the C64 version comes on the same disk :-)

A BIG thanks to Fred for sending in this neat game for all to see. Cheers!!

Click the Man's Coat and catch up on Jeff Minter's Online Diary!

Back In Time!!
I guess your wondering what the Hellgate is going on? Well last Wednesday was the night of the biggest gathering of C64 Star's since the release of the compilation games pack! Yes, we are talking about Back In Time Live held at Birmingham's new DNA night club (16th may 2001). I'm a nut on C64 and SID music even with my full time lov to the Plussy. So this event I could not miss!!! There's alot of cool releated news and info online now about the event which you can catch up on, (Links Below). Now for the C16/Plus4 releated news ;-)

Respects To The Man's Coat!!
I cought sight of Jeff Minter the dude who gave us the smash hit Void Runner! At the time he was being hogged by his C64 fans and standing there with no beer!! That had to be fixed quick smart and soon I was chatting to Jeff and I ask him why was Void Runner so cool on the C16. He said "Void Runner was made for the C16", at the time this was a machine with more colours then the rainbow :-) I later got onto saying about my hubble site and even made a note of it for Jeff seeing as the beer was coming in fast (Just incase he forgot). I had to tell Jeff that Void Runner was'nt available on the site "yak". Jeff replyed "Baaaaaaah! I give you permission to add my games to your site!". I was gob smacked and like a lost sheep I ended up following Jeff most of the night. I'm not going to go deep into the story of the coat, but I had so much repsects for Jeff and his sacred llama coat I wanted to have it for keeps sakes! I offered him some big money for it as I thought Jeff would'nt let it go with out a fight. To my amazement Jeff said "Anyone willing to offer money for my coat can have it for Free!! And there I was like a school kid going mental wearing what can only be called THE MAN's COAT! Even my good freinds Navvie, Cmj and Lee gave big respects to the man's coat! It was unreal and even now we are still buzzing about the whole thing. The coat is so sacred I had to emailed Jeff for some forgive-ness as I am not worthy to own The Man's Coat, but Jeff said "Enjoy, a good llama coat is indeed a wonderfull thing". And damm right it is! Many Thanks Jeff. Above you can catch up on Jeff Minter's Online Dairy by clicking on the coat banner. Your even see the Man's Coat of Tour!

Tom Vic20 16k
Tom for Vic20 16k !!!
At last we have the long awaited Vic 20 version of Tom Thumb and as you may guess it was Udo Gertz work once again!! I was amazed to see this game at long last and so was Csaba Szabó the dude responsible for sending it in!! The game runs fine, but as you a see above the screen looks to have a GFX bug. All the GFX sit over to the right had side with Vice and I suspect this to be an emulation bug? As we know Udo's C16 games always used tricks that the emulators have problems with and I wonder if the same thing is happening here with Vice. I'm sure there are many more Vic emu's out there worth checking out that just might emulate Udo's work correct? I have'nt had time to look, so grab it now and enjoy what I would call one of the rarest Vic games ever! Many thanks to Csaba Szabó :-)

Work in Progress "Your Commodore Scan Archive"
I have'nt been able to get all the nice C16/Plus4 related items done from issue "January 1987", but most of it is up in order of how it is presented in the mag. There are 17 pages online right now and some good reading to be had.
C16 Homepage Updated!!
Wow! 3 tap's are up for grabs which are Scooby Doo, Sqij and the much wanted Bridgehead C16! Again supported with intsructions and covers. I'm heading over now, a much wanted tap!
Many Thanks Thorsten!

German Magazine Scans!!
C16 Homepage have added a load of magazine scans. The mags are'nt complete, but its fantastic to see any info on the machines from a different part of the world. All text is in German, but there are some great piccys to see. They even have a full colour advertisement from Kingsoft!! You can find the magazines by clicking on the menu's
C16-Inside/Berichte/Zeitschriften.
Thorsten tells me a big thanks goes to TST-Mike for the scans. Thanks to Thorsten for the news.

c16 only
(Running on a Plus/4 config)
Rockman For 16k Only Machines!!
As you can guess this version of Rockman will only run on the Commodore C16 or 16k machines. What is special here is games that will only run with only 16k of memory are rare! One of the very first 16k only releases of Rockman I'm sure had the game controls as a loading screen aswell, because at this point I stoped the loading and added a couple of pokes to make the game work on my Plus/4. I dont have this version anymore... Fond memorys of the past :-)
You can setup Yape into any machine type but it must emulate a machine with 16k of RAM to run correct!

Kingsoft's Tapes Special!
C16 Homepage have just uploaded a collection of 4 sports simulations that came on the German Kingsoft release "Sport-Show". The four games are Canoe Slalom, Europen Cup, Thai Boxing and Kingsoft Tennis.

Now, this was a cool surprise for me to see as the English version released by Anco of this very compilation was called "Sport 4". One major differnece was we had Speed Boat Grand Prix insted of Kingsoft Tennis! Wow :-)
Thorsten has done a great job and added the cover and info at the same time.

Also, Rare Software Update over at C16 Homepage!
C16 Homepage have just added some tape files released by the company Markt and Technik. These contain 2 games (Hamurabi and Galgenraten Teil) and 2 applications (P++Z and Funktionsplotter). You can find these under their "Spezial Tapes" section. Also thanks to Thomas Heger for sending in infomation about Tom16 and Varmit.

Thanks to Thorsten for the news.
