Welcome To The Tape Samples Page
tapeimgae Tape samples are an almost perfect sample of a real game cassette. Although these files have the same (.tap) file type as Mtap images they are not the same format. These sample Tap's are WAV files. Mike Dailly's Minus4 Dos was the first emulator to support any kind of original C16/Plus4 casstte images (well done that man) and at the time Mike used the (.tap) file type seeing as no one else had :-)

Loading Mercenary 2 Tape Sample
Mercenary 2, (The Second City) TAP is a DATASET file. This can only be used with the game Mercenary (Escape from Targ) and will not operate in any way otherwise! To load Mercenary 2.tap you will first need to load Mercenary.prg or Mercenary.tap first.


Once on the ground and are ready to explore Targ press ( CTRL ) and 'L' simultaneously. Benson response: 'LOAD NUMBER 0-9?'. Now Enter 0 (Zero). Benson response: 'PRESS RETURN WHEN READY'. At this point select Mercenary2.tap


Also note: Do not setup the joystick controls for Minus4 Dos until Mercenary 2 has fully loaded! I found Minus4 Dos can crash at the moment you press F8 to load Mercenary 2 from Mercenary if the joystick controls have been set before.
